ABOUT THE ARTIST

Evita Zacharioglou is a Greek-Cypriot actor, dancer and choreographer. She is a third culture kid (TCK) who has traveled and trained all over the globe. Evita is formally trained in Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet, various types of contemporary dance forms, as well as traditional Greek dance. Evita is also a comparatist, with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature she is proficient in three languages and informed in literary traditions, criticism and theory, stressing theoretical acumen and the ability to consider different types of art concurrently. Her Masters in Fine Arts dance complements her prior degree, extending her expertise by enabling her with skills in visual arts, graphic design, filmmaking, choreography, dance, theater, vocals and creative writing. Her art bridges the gap between reality and fantasy. Evita explores conceptual ideas in her choreographies, inspired by literary texts or imagination, which stem towards a darker aesthetic.

Evita is a former dancer with NW Dance Project where she performed works by Ihsan Rustem, Caroline Finn, Yin Yue, Joseph Hernandez, and toured with the company in Germany. She is also an actor, dancer and model, currently represented by Jack & Jill Talent Agency.

Evita’s ballet training and professional dance career span the globe. Born in Australia, and raised in several countries across continents - Cyprus, Australia, Israel, and Germany - she completed her Royal Academy of Dance examinations in Classical Ballet with distinction.

In Cyprus, Evita performed as a soloist with the Lefkosia Youth Ballet. She also won senior 3rd Place at the Pancyprian Ballet Competition in 2010; she was awarded a scholarship for a summer intensive at The Place London Contemporary Dance School. After graduating, Evita earned her BA in Comparative Literature from Queen Mary University of London, with honors. Evita then moved to NYC where she attained her MFA in dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. During this time, she had the honor of being selected to work with Crystal Pite and performed Polaris with Kidd Pivot for Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival at New York City Center. Evita then freelanced in NYC where she performed with a diverse group of companies and choreographers including Yoshito Sakuraba, Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre, Periapsis Music & Dance, Norbert De La Cruz III, Gabrielle Lamb, and many more. Evita also toured — nationally and internationally — with Russian choreographer Vladimir Varnava under Ardani Artists Management. She was in the cast of Isadora starring Natalia Osipova and was featured alongside her in VOGUE Russia’s 20th Anniversary Issue in September 2018. Evita joined NW Dance Project as a full-time company dancer for their 2022-2023 season, where she performed works by Ihsan Rustem, Yin Yue, Caroline Finn, Joseph Hernandez, and toured in Germany.

In order to further her artistry and skills Evita has also participated in workshops with NW Dance Project, Whim W’him Seattle Contemporary Dance and multiple b12 summer workshops in Berlin. During these workshops she had the opportunity to work closely with Ihsan Rustem, Olivier Wevers, Tamara Gvozdenovic, Zoe Gyssler, Ella Rothschild and James Vu Anh Pham.

Evita has also begun her choreographic journey. In 2022 she was promoted to resident choreographer of Periapsis Music and Dance. She has presented work, both on stage and in film, at an array of venues, including but not limited to, the JCC Manhattan, S.P.A.C. Productions, Spark Film Festival, Dixon Place, Nimbus Dance Works, Path New Music Theater, La MaMa and Mark Morris Dance Center.
