About the artist

Evita Zacharioglou is a Greek-Cypriot dancer, choreographer and literary critic. She is a third culture kid (TCK) who has traveled and trained all over the globe. Evita is formally trained in Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet, various types of contemporary dance forms, as well as traditional Greek dance. Evita is also a ‘comparatist’, with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature she is proficient in three languages and acquainted in literary traditions, criticism and theory, stressing theoretical acumen and the ability to consider different types of art concurrently. Her Masters in Fine Arts dance compliments her prior degree, extending her expertise by enabling her with skills in visual arts, graphic design, filmmaking, choreography, dance, theater, vocals and creative writing. Her art bridges the gap between reality and fantasy. Evita explores conceptual ideas in her choreographies, inspired by literary texts or imagination, which stem towards a darker aesthetic.

Evita performs and tours – nationally and internationally – with Russian choreographer Vladimir Varnava under Ardani Artists Management. She is an original cast member of ISADORA starring Natalia Osipova and was featured in VOGUE Russia’s 20th Anniversary Issue September 2018. Upcoming ISADORA tours in 2019.

Evita also freelances, works with several dance companies in NYC, teaches with Everyday Ballet, and serves as Choreographer, Dancer and Rehearsal Director with Path New Music Theater.

Evita’s ballet training and professional dance career span the globe. Born in Australia, and raised in several countries across continents - Cyprus, Australia, Israel, and Germany - she completed her Royal Academy of Dance examinations in Classical Ballet with distinction.

In Cyprus, Evita performed as a soloist with the Lefkosia Youth Ballet and won a senior prize scholarship at the Pancyprian Ballet Competition to study dance at The Place London Contemporary Dance School. In London, Evita earned her BA in Comparative Literature, with honors, from Queen Mary University and taught Advanced Ballet and Pointe for Kent University’s Dance Society.

Since moving to NYC, Evita has earned an MFA in Dance at the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts and performed with a diverse group of companies and choreographers including Crystal Pite & Kidd Pivot, Second Avenue Dance Company, James Martin, Ori Flomin, Adams Company Dance, Little Big Artist and Vladimir Varnava.

Evita has also choreographed and presented work, both for film and stage, with, Second Avenue Dance Company, the JCC Manhattan, S.P.A.C. Productions, GMC Precision Machine, Dixon Place, Nimbus Dance Works, Path New Music Theater and La MaMa.
